I have been ranting about it ever since I received the email posted above. The cost involved in producing all these cards (thousands upon thousands), the paper required to mail them, and the postage combined with the hours it has taken for “the powers that be” to decide this path of “convenience” must be a staggering amount. This choice is not only fiscally irresponsible, but is also environmentally irresponsible. None of us NEEDS another card to manage. Not one of us thinks this card will make our lives as students any easier. In my humble opinion, I would have much rather seen this money spent in hiring another employee (or two) to work in the Financial Aid Office — even if just on a seasonal basis. Can you imagine that? A call being answered by Financial Aid! What a treat! But no. Once again the “Lords of CSUF” have opted to not choose in favor of the students but instead chose the path of bureaucratic b*** sh**. Their choice will fill our minds with yet another thing to manage, our mailboxes with more junk, and our landfills with more waste. Maybe my card will come today! I’ll be sprinting to my mailbox to find out…NOT!
