Many a squirrel have I fed when I parked beneath the shade of the mature trees, and I can’t help but wonder what happened to them. What happened to all the birds nesting in those trees? What happened to my squirrels? Sure, the parking lot has pot-holes and was in dire need of repair, however they did not need to rip out the trees to do it! Plus, if memory serves, a good majority of that parking lot was never used because it was reserved for special business parking (parking that I not once have seen utilized). What’s done is done, but I will stand with any person — faculty, environment group, students — to inform the administration of my outrage. I’m constantly shocked as I observed fields being bull-dozed and dug-up making way for new parking lots, homes, and shopping centers. I literally shed tears over the wildlife that has died so that the greedy can get all they can by raping our natural world. The character of Dr. Malcolm in Jurassic Park said that one of the problems with modernization is that man is so captivated by the knowledge that he CAN, he doesn’t stop to think if he SHOULD.

Believe me, it was my pleasure! As you may tell by my very delayed response, I haven’t been giving my blog much attention lately. My vacation is just about over, however, so things will be coming back to life very soon. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do this fall!
